About Eskrima

Eskrima, also known as Arnis or Kali, is an indigenous Filipino Martial Art which utilizes weapons such as sticks (single and double), knife/daggers, spada y daga (sword and dagger), Ananangkil (staff), Pangamot (empty hands: kicking and punching), and Dumog/Buno (grappling & throwing) - the Filipino martial art of Eskrima is a complete system in its own right.

Doce Pares is a blend of various styles that were brought under one umbrella organization by the founding masters in 1932. The Doce Pares Headquarters is located in Cebu City, Philippines. To the credit of the leaders of the organization, these diverse and often contrasting styles and skills were successfully integrated and passed on to the next generation of Doce Pares adherents.

Cacoy Doce Pares was founded by Supreme Grandmaster Ciriaco ‘Cacoy’ Canete (12th Degree Black Belt) This particular style specializes in close quarter stick fighting known as Korto Kurbada and Eskrido.

Eskrido is the personal style of SGM Cacoy Canete which blends the Korto Kurbada close quarter stick-fighting style with a wide variety of traps, locks, chokes, takedowns and throws which are heavily influenced by techniques from Judo and Ju-Jitsu.
